Serpentine Road Family Church is glad to support the work of the Baptist Missionary Society. In particular they are committed to pray and to support the work of
Deb and Dug Benn
who are members of Romford Baptist Church in Havering – where London meets Essex. They have been married 30 years and have two sons: Joe, married to Laura, and Josh, married to Rosie. Part of Deb and Dug’s call to work for BMS came from the witness of Josh who was on a BMS Action Team to Ecuador in 2006/07.
Prior to joining the Baptist Missionary Society, Dug worked with the NHS for 25 years as a therapy radiographer, latterly in a senior role including being a clinical learning facilitator. Deb trained initially with National Children’s Home and has been involved in childcare for 34 years. She was a childcare inspector for 17 years, most recently with Ofsted. Between them they have been involved in a wide range of ministries including youth work, Sunday school, worship leading, audio-visual, diaconate, safeguarding, small groups, hospitality, family support and toddler groups.
Dug and Deb are currently serving in long-term mission in Uganda, based in Kampala. They are working in partnership with the Baptist Union of Uganda in the Children’s Department.
